Course Overview

The strength of the relationships between team members, or team cohesion, impacts how effective teams will be, particularly in responding to external challenges. A team’s members must be cohesive to function as a unit, working closely and efficiently to achieve common goals. This course will teach you how to effectively develop and manage teams that focus on three areas for improvement: communication, cooperation, and trust. You’ll learn practical tactics for increasing communication and encouraging collaboration among team members. You’ll also learn what symptoms indicate a lack of trust in a team, as well as how to demonstrate team leadership by employing the correct strategies to establish trust and promote teamwork.

A high-performing team may realize its full potential, resulting in a healthier, more productive organization. According to team development expert Patrick Lencioni, “the true measure of a team is that it achieves the outcomes it sets out to achieve.” In today’s highly competitive corporate world, collaboration is a sustainable source of competitive advantage that is generally underutilized. True teamwork is easy yet difficult to achieve. It is visible in successful organizations but obviously absent in the majority of them, and certainly in those that fail.

Course Outline

The workshop is an assessment-based learning experience that assists individuals and organizations in revealing what it takes to create a cohesive and effective team in the most approachable, competent, and effective manner possible. The workshop’s only purpose is to improve team effectiveness and productivity by focusing on:

  • Creating trust
  • Positive conflict resolution
  • Making decisions as a team
  • Holding each other to account
  • concentrating on obtaining collective outcomes

This approved two-day, highly interactive session identifies and solves the five most common difficulties faced by teams in organizations:

  • A lack of trust
  • A lack of commitment
  • A lack of accountability
  • A failure to achieve joint goals.

The Building a Cohesive Team training includes a Disc behavioral-type evaluation for each team member, with everyone on the team’s behavioral “style” presented. It also assesses the team’s performance against the five behaviors. The session then delves into each behavior in turn, culminating with action plans developed by the team for the team.
